Quick Find

You’re probably already familiar with Quick Find. It’s the fastest way to find a page within Setup because you don’t need to remember where the page you’re looking for falls in the menu. And, no scrolling! Just start typing in the Quick Find box. As you type, the list only shows the pages that match your search term. Click on the name and off you go. It’s really a work of art.

Object Manager

In Lightning Experience, most object settings, such as fields, layouts, record types, buttons, and links, are available from the Object Manager in Setup. Always check the Object Manager if you can’t find what you want in Quick Find. For more information, see Find Object Management Settings in Lightning Experience in Salesforce Help.

Global Search

At first glance, you might just see the usual global search, which lets you search records across multiple objects in Salesforce. But, if you take a closer look, you’ll notice that you can search Setup records with global search. You might be wondering how this is any different from Quick Find. Quick Find locates Setup pages, such as Account Settings or Profiles, based on their page title. Global search finds specific Setup records, like the Lead Source picklist field or the Sales Rep profile.

To take advantage of this super cool shortcut, enter the name of the Setup record in global search and press Enter. You’ll be taken to a search results page that lists Setup records with name fields that match your search term. See results for different Setup objects by clicking through the search navigation below global search. Click More if you don’t see what you’re looking for right away. Note that not all Setup objects are searchable, and results are matched only against the name of the record.

With all those saved clicks, you might have time to take a real tour of something outside of the office!

Carousel

Everyone loves a good carousel ride. The carousel of quick-access tiles is way more than the latest and greatest feature offering from Salesforce. With the tiles, you get an easy way to:

  • Use the Mobile Publisher to create your own branded mobile app.
  • Use Real-time Collaborative Docs to transform productivity with collaborative docs, spreadsheets, and slides inside Salesforce.
  • Join the Trailblazer Community to get help, learn, and collaborate with fellow customers.
  • Prepare the mobile app for your users.
  • Visit the AppExchange, the #1 business app marketplace.
  • Click to customize fields, build layouts, and more with the Object Manager.
  • Get SalesforceA, the mobile app that’s just for Salesforce Admins.
  • Learn all about the current Salesforce release with the Release Notes.
  • Get real-time information on Salesforce performance and security.

Setup is more than just your home base. It’s also a portal to all the sites you commonly use as an admin. Go ahead, take a spin around.

Most Recently Used

Ever find yourself needing to quickly go back to a page in Setup? The Most Recently Used list at the bottom of the page shows some, but not all, of the Setup records that you recently viewed, edited, or created. Use it to quickly jump back to what you were working on with a single click.

Well, with that, we’ve reached the end of our tour. We hope you’ve come away with a better appreciation of the Salesforce Setup Home page, along with some tips for navigating around.

Don’t forget to visit the gift shop on your way out. Really, seriously, there’s a gift shop.
