Parker Harris on co-founding Salesforce.com

By

Parker HarrisThis week we speak with Salesforce.com Co-Founder, Parker Harris. Parker co-founded salesforce.com in the spring of 1999. Prior to founding salesforce.com, he developed cloud computing expertise at Left Coast Software, another company he co-founded in 1996, and sales force automation expertise at Metropolis Software, which was an early pioneer in field of sales force automation subsequently acquired by Clarify. Currently, Parker Harris oversees product strategy for salesforce.com, from design to development to service delivery.

We talk with Parker and learn about the start of Salesforce.com, his background before getting involved with Salesforce (which includes a liberal arts degree, similar to a lot of our admins), and we learn about the shift to mobile. Besides talking about Dreamforce (which is in a few weeks), we hear about how the evolution of the mobile platform and how Salesforce is taking some of the apps we have been using individually and changing the enterprise mobile experience.

Parker also speaks to us about maintaining a culture of innovation at Salesforce and we get a glimpse as to how he keeps his employees engaged and some of the challenges they have had.

There are so many great ideas and we were very lucky to have Parker on the podcast – we hope you enjoy this as much as we did!
