Fun Fact: I ran 52 marathons in a span of two years.
Favorite Feature: Service Cloud.
Admin Motto: Salesforce is like a marathon; focus on one thing at a time.
Why did you become an Admin?
I like interacting with people. I used to work as a developer for a Salesforce partner, but once I started meeting with clients to do quality assurance, I discovered that I really liked helping solve people’s business problems. Now my favorite part about being a Salesforce Admin is working really closely with business leaders to build processes instead of just implementing them.
What is the most important skill for an Admin?
An Admin needs to understand business processes. If you don’t understand the business processes you are running in Salesforce, it is really hard to implement it for your company. It is also important to know basic development skills so that you know your limits and when you should move over to code.
What’s your advice to other Admins?
Don’t be afraid to tell the business what you think is right. Often businesses don’t know Salesforce as well as you do, so it is your job to own the Admin role and advise them to do the right thing.
Being an Admin isn’t just about knowing the technology. You can build a great career as a Salesforce Admin by wrapping in other skills like project management, business analysis, or development.
Don’t be afraid to ask for help. There’s nothing like the Salesforce Success Community out there. In other communities, you get a few people who are willing to help, but with the Success Community you get answers immediately! Everyone has been a beginner at some point, and everyone is willing to help without judgment.
