Why did you become an Admin?
I chose to become a Salesforce Admin because the role was intriguing and the system just made sense. Every single day I was learning something new, and since I get bored easily, I loved that the work wasn’t monotonous. I fell in love with Salesforce!
It was easy for me to make the choice to be an Admin given the potential for my career. I saw a clear path towards achieving success with my Admin skills, which opened up multiple career options.
What is the most important skill for an Admin?
To be a really good Salesforce Administrator you have to be curious. You have to ask a lot of questions and figure out which ones are the right ones to ask. The questions for your sales reps probably aren’t the same ones you need to ask your marketing team.
What’s your advice to other Admins?
Know your worth. Many of us accidental Admins never thought we’d be working in technology, so we often settle for less than we are worth. I don’t have a technology background and was intimidated by the industry because I didn’t realize just how valuable my Salesforce skills were. It was when I got involved in the Salesforce community that I realized that this is where I belong.
If I can do it, anyone can do it! If you have the ambition and drive to make something out of your career with Salesforce, there’s nothing stopping you. Everything you need to learn the platform is available. If you embrace it, there’s no way you can’t be successful.
