Why did you become a Salesforce Admin?
Our company started to use Salesforce more and more, and needed a skilled Admin. I was a sales representative, but the company saw that I was skilled with technology and that I had great business acumen, so they asked me to take on the role of Salesforce Admin. I’m very happy that I got this opportunity because I enjoy working on such a wonderful platform.
What’s your favorite part about being a Salesforce Admin?
I love the moment when I solve a problem. There is such an amazing feeling of accomplishment because I’ve found a way to satisfy my users using the platform. I also love sharing these moments with the Salesforce community, and I try to meet and connect with people in the community to find answers to more problems and get best practices. The more problems I get to solve, the better Admin I become.
What is the most important skill for a Salesforce Admin?
You have to be patient. Your users are not as familiar with Salesforce as you, so they may ask you the same questions many times. Ensure them that you are on their side, and working to make their lives easier. Take the time to understand how your users use Salesforce in their jobs, and make sure that you are solving problems in ways that fit their needs.
What is your advice to other Salesforce Admins?
Take full advantage of Trailhead. It is a great resource that helps you learn Salesforce effectively. My company uses a lot of custom objects, but because I use Trailhead, I also know how to use standard objects. Trailhead prepares you to be a truly AwesomeAdmin.
