5 exciting Spring ’21 Release highlights for admins

With every release, there are always marquee features that bring the headlines. And if you tune into Release Readiness Live: The Admin Preview on January 29, you’ll see a handful of features that are really useful for admins, like In-App Learning, Service Setup Assistant, and Macros Builder to name a few. But there are other enhancements that shouldn’t be overlooked. Let’s look at five enhancements that are as refreshing as a spring breeze.

1. Find release notes in Salesforce Help

Back in November, we were so excited to announce that release notes had a new home in Help. With this being the second release in the new home, I felt it important to point out. This is such a great feature and, as an admin, you already go to Help for pretty much everything. To ensure a smooth transition for all, we’ll keep the original Release Notes portal up to date until we retire it in July 2021.

2. Use Lightning email templates in automation

You can now use Lightning email templates — including Email Template Builder email templates — in Salesforce automations, including email alerts, Flow, Workflow, Process Builder, Approval Processes, and more. For example, you can set up a flow to send an email to users when an Opportunity changes to Closed Won, and you can now use your fancy new Lightning email template!

3. Add GIFs to In-App Guidance

Learning while in the flow of work has become even MOAR engaging in Spring ’21. Admins can now add images and GIFs to In-App Guidance. This is sure to amp up user engagement with prompts.

As an admin, you can add animated GIFs to In-App Guidance to clarify processes for your end users and help them adopt processes more quickly. An animated GIF can demonstrate how an end user needs to complete the action. Immediately after the prompt, you can try out the action, which can amplify adoption. You decide where you want the images and GIFs in the prompts to maximize visibility on the screen for end users.

4. Optimize with Analyze Page Performance

Admins are always working to improve their org’s performance. With the Analyze Page Performance feature available in Spring ’21, you can review and optimize for minimum page load time in both desktop and mobile! You have control over how to add components to ensure pages load quickly and effectively for your end users.

Practice adding different components to your page layout to see how they will impact page performance. Analyze Page Performance will predict load time and provide recommendations. This information will guide discussions with end users and stakeholders around the pros and cons of adding a component to a page. For example, will adding a component that significantly increases load time outweigh the loading page performance? Now you have the data to make these decisions.

5. Customize your Lightning pages with Dynamic Actions everywhere

Dynamic Actions for the Account, Case, Contact, Lead, and Opportunity objects are now GA for desktop ?! And Dynamic Actions for all other standard objects are Beta for desktop, too! Plus, you can use Dynamic Actions with custom objects on mobile.

Use the Lightning App Builder to add Dynamic Actions to custom objects on both desktop AND mobile. If you haven’t explored Dynamic Actions yet, this was released last year. All of these were high-priority requests from admins, so now is the time to add these to your Lightning pages!

These are just five goodies in the Spring ’21 Release and by no means an exhaustive list. So, of all the fun features in Spring ’21, which one are you the most excited to share with your users? Learn more in the release notes and join us for the Spring ’21 Admin Preview during Release Readiness Live on January 29 to see a demo and get your questions answered by experts.
