5 Ways Admins Can Continue To Learn, Connect, and Give Back Post Dreamforce ‘19

By

Salesforce Admins from all over the world came to San Francisco last week to learn, connect, have fun, and give back. Together, we learned the latest technology, connected with fellow #AwesomeAdmins, and shared what it means to be a Salesforce Admin with the world. And the action doesn’t stop now! Dreamforce may be over, but your opportunities to learn and connect are not!

Here are five ways you can continue the Dreamforce momentum of learning and connecting:

1. Share what it means to be a Salesforce Admin in three words

This year, we wanted to spread the word about what makes Salesforce Admins awesome far and wide. We created the Admin Spotlight experience to showcase admins. Check out the images and word choices on Twitter using #AwesomeAdmin. What words would you choose to describe an #AwesomeAdmin?

2. Learn the latest technology by watching the Admin keynote

At the Salesforce for Admins Keynote, we showed how #AwesomeAdmins all around the world champion productivity, deliver innovation, and drive success! We highlighted how three amazing Trailblazers—Zarina Varley Scott, Steve Harris, and Karene-Sean Hines—transform their companies, careers, and communities.

The keynote was hosted by CTO and co-founder of Salesforce, Parker Harris. He was joined on stage by Mike Gerholdt, LeeAnne Rimel, and Josie Chiles to show #AwesomeAdmins how they can use the full power of the Salesforce Platform to drive impact at their companies and in their careers and communities.

Check out the keynote here! Plus, you can start to apply your learning and get hands-on with the new features and functionality we showed in the demos with this awesome trailmix, created by Parker himself!

Complete the trailmix by December 31, 2019 to get a special #AwesomeAdmin #DF19 community badge!

3. Learn from sessions for Admins by Admins

With more than 150 theater and breakout sessions, the Admin Track was one of the highest attended tracks at Dreamforce! Twenty-minute theater and 40-minute breakout sessions allowed you to access the very best knowledge that your #AwesomeAdmin peers had to share. You learned best practices and tips about so many different features and topics: Leadership, Change Management & Adoption, Lightning, Mobile, Process Automation, Reports & Dashboards, Documentation, Security, Data Quality, Einstein Analytics, Quip, Service Cloud, Community Cloud, Integration Cloud, and more!

Watch the breakout sessions that were recorded here.

Some of our most popular/highly rated sessions were:

4. Know your Admin trivia & top tips

One thing we love about the Admin community is that they know how to have a GREAT time! Dreamforce ‘19 attendees joined us in the Admin Theater for fun sessions like #AwesomeAdmin Trivia and the Admin Game Night Tip-Off. Both activities were fast-paced and packed full of #AwesomeAdmin expertise and knowledge. For the inaugural Admin Game Night, we featured two brackets of Tip-Off hosted by the incomparable Michelle Hansen, Aaron McGriff, and Chris Duarte! Each participant had 90 seconds to live demo their best tip for admins, then the audience voted by text (thanks, MogliSMS!) for their favorite.

Tips featured topics like how to supercharge your List Views by David Giller, using report filter value parameters to find potential matches for two related objects by Skye Tyler, creating an Admin layout for every object in your org to get a full overview by Squire Kershner, and a super cool rap about how you can include comments in your formulas by Melissa Fox!

In between brackets, we had amazing entertainment with Amnon Kruvi’s cover of “Somewhere Only We Know,” called “See the People We Know,” as well as a stunning performance by Salesforce’s own acapella group, Cloudy with a Chance of Beatbox. Whew! We packed a ton of admin-centric entertainment into one evening and had a fabulous time doing it.

5. Connect and give back by sharing your expertise with the community

Experienced admins gave back by sharing their expertise and answering questions at Admin Meadow demo booths. Michelle Hansen staffed a demo booth for us, and she said, “The most rewarding part of working in the demo booths was when a first-time attendee told me that the 45-minute conversation we had… made his entire trip worth it!”

Admins also presented in the sessions across Dreamforce to share best practices, tips, and tricks. And that’s the magic that makes Dreamforce such an amazing learning experience for Salesforce Admins at every stage, on every kind of stage!

Another facet of giving back was highlighted this year at Dreamforce: our commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (or SDGs). We were delighted to contribute to SDG number 8: decent work and economic growth.

And it doesn’t stop here! There are many ways for admins to give back to the community during the year, whether it’s answering questions on the Trailblazer Community or presenting at your local Community Group meetings. Dreamforce will be coming to a local Community Group near you this January for Global Gatherings. Join an upcoming Global Gathering and share what you learned this past week! To learn more about Global Gatherings, sign up, and share your knowledge, check out how the best of Dreamforce ‘19 comes to you.

We’re so glad you joined us online and in-person for another fantastic Dreamforce full of learning, connecting, having fun, and giving back. Until the next one, follow along with us and your peers with the #AwesomeAdmin hashtag on Twitter or on other social media channels (Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube).
