So, you’re attending your first ever Salesforce World Tour? Congratulations, #AwesomeAdmin! The Salesforce World Tour is renowned for being a world—class event; a day packed with amazing learning opportunities, an inspiring keynote, and tons of Trailblazers to network with. With so much to pack into one day, here are my top 5 tips to ensure your first Salesforce World Tour absolutely rocks!
Before you go
Before I go to any Salesforce event, I like to suss out who else is going. Who will I know and who would I love to meet (hint – at this year’s world tour I want to meet Salesforce Ben!). If this is your first ever Salesforce World Tour, especially if you’re attending solo, start connecting with the community on Twitter right now so you can spot some familiar faces in the crowd. Look out for hashtags like #SalesforceTour and #AwesomeAdmin, and don’t be afraid to reach out to people directly to see if they’re attending.
Start your day with the Lightning Champions
If you’re reading this before 23 May, 2019 myself and my fellow Lightning Champions would love to see you for breakfast at the Platform Lodge at World Tour London. We’ll be on hand to help you with questions on migrating to Lightning, best practice and top tips to make the most of new functionality and how to build amazing Lightning apps. Your day of learning starts here! If you’re attending a different event, connecting with a group like Lightning Champions ensures you start your day off with a proper meal, friendly faces, and lots of learning!
Visit the Admin Theatre in the Trailhead Zone
If you haven’t done so already, check out the AMAZING sessions happening in the Admin Theatre! Salesforce World Tour is an incredible learning opportunity; with sessions running all day and on every conceivable topic, there’s something for everyone.
If this is your first time, be sure to take in a session led by a member of the community. They offer unique insight into how other Admins are utilizing Salesforce in the real world. If you’re ready to embark on your journey to Lightning at World Tour London, I recommend you check out “I Built In Lightning and I Liked It” with the wonderful Julia Doctoroff at 12.30pm.
As for me, I’ll be accelerating my learning on the new Flow Builder by attending “Lightning Flow: The Best Feature You’re Not Using” with Lightning Champion Chris Emmett at 1pm.
Check out the Campground
If you’ve got a specific business requirement or want to know what others in your industry are doing, you need to get yourself over to the Campground. The Campground is like a one-stop shop for all things Salesforce, with partner stations, cloud stations, and industry areas. This is your chance to get hands-on with products and speak to experts to discover how their solutions can add value to your business. I like to take the opportunity to explore Salesforce products I don’t get to play with in my day job, like Einstein!
It’s all over…now what?
After an amazing day of inspirational learning, you’ll be in the right mindset to keep the momentum going. If you were intrigued by a Salesforce product or specific functionality, get logged into Trailhead ASAP and work through any corresponding badges. This will help you cement what you learned on the day and you’ll be in a great position to start telling your company about features that can benefit them.
Now is also a great time to start planning the next steps in your Salesforce Admin journey. What would you like to achieve before we meet again at the next Salesforce World Tour or event? Set yourself some goals, perhaps to become a Trailhead Ranger or to pass a Salesforce certification. And don’t forget to stay plugged in to the amazing Ohana on Twitter. These fellow Admins will keep you motivated, help answer questions, and provide strong connections you’ll value for the rest of your career. You’ve seen what’s possible, now get out there and put it into practice!
