Join Us for Be An Innovator with Design

By

Last year, we dipped our toes into the world of user experience, reimagining a record page using dynamic forms and actions. This year, we’re building on those skills and taking it one step further. Get ready to Be An Innovator with Design!

We know you’re expected to make changes in Salesforce at lightning speed in order to customize the user experience in Salesforce and support a business that is fast-changing, needing to pivot, or expanding. But, it’s futile if not done right. Adoption suffers. No wonder recent research shows design is increasing as an in-demand skill among Salesforce Admin employers. In fact, this demand is projected to grow by 22% in the next few years!

As you, the Salesforce Admin, take on the role of UX designer for your Salesforce instance, your intention and design thinking skills become critical. Lucky for you, we’re here to help!

Build a redesigned account page

Join us over the next few weeks and learn how to deliver innovation by building pages that are intuitive, engaging, and easy to use. Be An Innovator with Design will take you step by step, from start to finish.

With guidance from our Salesforce Admin Evangelists and design experts, we’ll redesign the one and only account page to help our users get that streamlined 360-degree view of their customers!

We’ll also suggest Trailhead modules to help you go deeper into the topic. You can either follow along by building the same page or apply the skills you learn to build a custom one for yourself or your company.

Share, connect, and win prizes!

Watch every episode to the end to discover the exercise you need to complete. Then, share on Twitter using #BeAnInnovator and #sweepstakes so you can be entered for a chance to win 1 of 25 prize packs, including a wireless charging pad, #AwesomeAdmin T-shirt, and custom sticky notes. We’re on this adventure together

Before we jump in and redesign the account page, let’s hear from our experts! We are continuing on our journey of becoming design-minded admins, concerned about delivering intuitive, engaging, and easy-to-use page experiences for our users. As Architect Admin Evangelist LeeAnne Rimel says,

“Admins are designers! Every day you are designing user experiences. Join us and learn the design fundamentals that will help bring your work to the next level.” — LeeAnne Rimel, Architect Admin Evangelist

To drive the point home, VP & Principal Design Architect Adam Doti notes,

“Admins already embody excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills. There’s an opportunity to build on that with a few core design skills, fundamental UX heuristics, and a comfort level around relationship design, a creative practice that drives social and business value by building strong relationships.”— Adam Doti, VP & Principal Design Architect

Lastly, a tip from yours truly:

“Design thinking is a team activity, not a solo exercise! Think about who you can engage (users, stakeholders, or team members) to work through the exercises with you. Even a couple of friends or fellow #AwesomeAdmins will make for a great experience. If that’s not possible, reflect upon a recent situation or scenario you experienced and use those insights as the basis for your exercises.”

I’m in! Now what?

Joining the adventure is easy. All you have to do is visit the Be An Innovator with Design page at 10 a.m. PT on May 3, 5, 7, 10, 12, and 14 when each episode unlocks.

Watch the episode, do the exercise listed at the end, complete the recommended module(s), and share your progress on Twitter #BeAnInnovator.  If you have questions or get stuck along the way, simply post in the Admin Trailblazers group using #BeAnInnovator.

Design Thinking for Salesforce Admins

Foundations of Design Thinking for Salesforce Admins

That’s user experience (UX) design. Aligning color palettes to branding? That’s graphic design. Weaving design considerations into admin decisions has likely become automatic in […]
