Gillian Bruce:
Welcome to the Salesforce Admins Podcast. And the thank you, Matt Graessle for the suggestion of calling it a Podcap episode, where we talk about product, community and careers help you be an awesome admin. I’m Gillian Bruce.

Mike Gerholdt:
And I’m Mike Gerholdt.

Gillian Bruce:
And like we said, thank you, Matt Graceful for suggesting a title for this, What Do We Call This Episode that we do every month, as a Podcap.

Mike Gerholdt:
It’s a podcap. Podcap sounds good for August.

Gillian Bruce:
Yeah. Like I said, we got one submission, people.

Mike Gerholdt:
One.

Gillian Bruce:
So please help us.

Mike Gerholdt:
From all of our listeners. It also, I was the other day watching TV, it sounds like one of those as-seen-on-TV ideas. Like, “Thinning hair? Put on a Podcap. Now you can listen to the latest episode of the Salesforce Admins Podcast and grow hair.”

Gillian Bruce:
I think you just created our new ad.

Mike Gerholdt:
And it’s a baseball hat that plays the podcast. And when the podcast isn’t playing, it plays the, “Awesome Admin,” and then you have to get up and dance. So you’re growing your hair back and you’re getting smarter, and then you’re dancing. You’ve got to do the serve the platter thing.

Gillian Bruce:
Yeah. Or it’s like a-

Mike Gerholdt:
That’s my as-seen-on-TV, late-night commercial for the Podcap.

Gillian Bruce:
That’s pretty good.

Mike Gerholdt:
The latest in hair regeneration technology.

Gillian Bruce:
Feeling a little cold, trying to figure out that report? Put on your Podcap.

Mike Gerholdt:
Yes.

Gillian Bruce:
All right. So to recap, what happened this last month?

Mike Gerholdt:
To recap the podcap, so far, we’ve grown hair and made a commercial. In a world where there’s a podcast and you need to grow Brussels sprouts, get a Podcap. It could be like the Chia Pet thing.

Gillian Bruce:
Cha cha cha chia.

Mike Gerholdt:
Yeah, but pa pa pa Podcap.

Gillian Bruce:
Every time you say podcap, I’m thinking of literally that something looks like a bottle cap that you put on your head.

Mike Gerholdt:
Yes.

Gillian Bruce:
Like, “Put on your Podcap.”

Mike Gerholdt:
Right. At this point, Matt Graessle is the only one listening because we keep saying his name.

Gillian Bruce:
Thank you, Matt.

Mike Gerholdt:
Why wouldn’t he listen?

Gillian Bruce:
Thank you.

Mike Gerholdt:
Imagine what could happen if you were the second person to put in an idea.

Gillian Bruce:
If the Podcap started this downward spiral into who knows where we are now, imagine what your suggestion could do.

Mike Gerholdt:
Coming soon to a town near you, the Podcap. Don’t let your children out at night. I’m trying to span the whole genre, like as-seen-on-TV thrillers. Coming to Netflix this fall, the Podcap. He’s grainy, he’s silly, he’s a podcap.

Gillian Bruce:
Mike, I feel like we can keep going with this for a while.

Mike Gerholdt:
We probably could, but people want nourishment for their gray matter. So let’s talk about all the fun things we did in August, which is March 275th. I don’t know.

Gillian Bruce:
Correct. Yes, I think this is officially… I don’t even know, man. This year. But you know what’s good about this year?

Mike Gerholdt:
That it’s over eventually.

Gillian Bruce:
Eventually. Well, no, I was going to say there’s been some actually very fun content and useful content that our team has helped highlight and put out there for admins.

Mike Gerholdt:
Let’s not add this episode to it. But we’ll talk about all of the fun content that this episode highlights.

Gillian Bruce:
So we had something very cool. We’re coming back to the LowCodeLove in August.

Mike Gerholdt:
Did we lose love?

Gillian Bruce:
I don’t know. These days, I wonder.

Mike Gerholdt:
What’s that one movie of how to lose a… Right?

Gillian Bruce:
How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days?

Mike Gerholdt:
Yeah. See, how to lose code in 10 days.

Gillian Bruce:
One of my favorite romcoms ever. Kate Hudson in that yellow dress. Are you kidding? I want to be iced by Matthew McConaughey too. Okay. Anyway, moving on. LowCodeLove is happening. Has happened.

Mike Gerholdt:
We’re just narrowing the niche of people that understand the randomness that we talk about. I was told by my account executive I should listen to the Salesforce Admins Podcast, and all I understood was pop culture references.

Gillian Bruce:
Sorry, everyone who hasn’t seen that movie or anything else.

Mike Gerholdt:
But you should watch it and watch some of the awesome low-code love that’s going on right now. We’re falling back in low-code love.

Gillian Bruce:
Yeah. This is highlighting what we kicked off. What was that? Was that March or April that we did that?

Mike Gerholdt:
I think it was April.

Gillian Bruce:
Okay, sure.

Mike Gerholdt:
It was pre super hot weather in the Midwest.

Gillian Bruce:
It was a hundred something days ago.

Mike Gerholdt:
Right.

Gillian Bruce:
But yeah, it’s all about all the amazing low-code solutions we have on Salesforce to help you get your job done easier and faster and empower your users. And automation is a big piece of that. I know we highlighted some pretty cool stuff. Flow is completely transformed, continuing to get more innovations. There’s even more coming with the Winter ’21 release, which we’ll talk about in a second. Super exciting. Security tools now that we have as admins. All kinds of great things. So check out LowCodeLove.

Mike Gerholdt:
I think what’s great is there’s so much of the tools that we can use that are easy to wrap your head around. Before the low-code stuff, you think back to the builders 10, 20 years ago, it was drag and drop. So you didn’t have to code it. But you didn’t really understand. Or it was such light that you’re doing. Now with some of the flow stuff, you’re doing super heavy lifting and you’re not writing a single line of code. So I love the low-code love.

Gillian Bruce:
I know, it looks so pretty. I like things that look pretty. Like I said, I want to get iced. Anyway…

Mike Gerholdt:
Speaking of iced and winter. How about that for a segue?

Gillian Bruce:
Great segue.

Mike Gerholdt:
Telling you.

Gillian Bruce:
Winter ’21 is coming? Winter is coming.

Mike Gerholdt:
Winter-

Gillian Bruce:
There you go. Another Game of Thrones reference. Another pop culture reference for everyone.

Mike Gerholdt:
Somebody’s keeping track. Matt Graceful is.

Gillian Bruce:
So yeah, Winter ’21 is happening, people. In fact, you can get your pre-release org now. It’s available. Make sure you check your Sandboxes, that you’ve got them all set to either update or not update according to all the instructions out there. The pre-release notes are live as well, so if you want a sneak peek into what’s happening with Winter ’21. And we’ve got as always, some amazing tools coming your way to help you prepare for Winter 21, we’ve got another learn more campaign. That’s going to be kicking off in just a few weeks and Release Readiness Live, the admin review is going to happen on mark your calendars-

Mike Gerholdt:
Mark your calendars.

Gillian Bruce:
… September 18th.

Mike Gerholdt:
Wow. Do you know the time?

Gillian Bruce:
We don’t know a time yet.

Mike Gerholdt:
Okay. Just the whole day. Block it.

Gillian Bruce:
Just block it because it’s worth it.

Mike Gerholdt:
Get up, make a good breakfast.

Gillian Bruce:
There’s so much to learn.

Mike Gerholdt:
Maybe a bloody Mary. Get ready for Release Readiness.

Gillian Bruce:
I think I’m more of a mimosa person myself.

Mike Gerholdt:
Okay. That’s fine. And soak it in.

Gillian Bruce:
Yeah. Soak it in. There’s a lot. There’s a lot with Winter. For admins, there’s a lot.

Mike Gerholdt:
I’ve seen your post, Gillian. It’s going to be… That’s okay. We’ve got-

Gillian Bruce:
It’s hard to pack it all in. There’s just so much. It’s very exciting.

Mike Gerholdt:
There’s a flurry of new features.

Gillian Bruce:
Sure is.

Mike Gerholdt:
Okay.

Gillian Bruce:
Okay.

Mike Gerholdt:
My one attempt at something.

Gillian Bruce:
Did you know?

Mike Gerholdt:
Did you know? I feel like how do you make that emoji? Right?

Gillian Bruce:
That was pretty good. If you’re watching the video version, you should definitely check on Mike’s face right now. That’s good.

Mike Gerholdt:
And if you’re not, it’s probably funnier.

Gillian Bruce:
Right. We should all make the emoji, no matter, if you’re walking your dog,

Mike Gerholdt:
Exactly.

Gillian Bruce:
… if you’re doing chores, make the Hmm emoji.

Mike Gerholdt:
Did you know? It’s one part Dr. Evil, but without the pinky.

Gillian Bruce:
Yeah.

Mike Gerholdt:
So we’re highlighting a lot of, in these, I watched these videos that Lizz put out on enabling case merge. Holy cow.

Gillian Bruce:
So cool. So, so, so cool.

Mike Gerholdt:
I know. Guiding your end users. And I just loved those did-you-know videos. I think they’re so cool. I’m so glad to see them evolve. It’s fun, little five minutes, “Hey, I’m just going to sit and chill out and watch something fun.”

Gillian Bruce:
Yeah. And Lizz did an amazing job with those and there’s definitely more coming. But yeah, it’s a great little bite-sized way to just learn something real quick that you can do in Salesforce. So, maybe you don’t want to sit through and go through a Trailhead module. Well, you can still absorb that content, just sit down and watch a video.

Mike Gerholdt:
Yeah. Did you know?

Gillian Bruce:
What else are we doing these days, except watching things on the internet, right?

Mike Gerholdt:
Well, you could read a blog, 831 Billion Reasons to Love Automation. I don’t know what I was doing that day when it got published, and I was scrolling through our website because I checked admin.salesforce.com every day. And I was like, what? Who published… That’s a funny title. And I’m glad we got that out there.

Gillian Bruce:
Yeah. 831 billion reasons made me feel like, that seems like a lot. I don’t know. Do I need to read all of those? Oh, I get it.

Mike Gerholdt:
Truth be told, we started this blog post 10 years ago. It was the fact checking, have you ever counted to a billion? We had to count to 831 billion.

Gillian Bruce:
Well, we got to catch up because we’re all locked inside right now. So what else are we going to do? We’re going to count all the reasons.

Mike Gerholdt:
Yeah. Counting all the reasons.

Gillian Bruce:
Counting all the reasons. But yeah, automation is wild and awesome and there’s so many things you can do. And I will tell you, Salesforce is focusing a lot of resources in this arena. So stay tuned because it’s awesome now, but just you wait, it’s going to get even more awesomer, because that’s totally a word.

Mike Gerholdt:
I think so. I think so. We also used to call, back in my day, “Hey,” this my old man laugh voice, automagically, if you recall.

Gillian Bruce:
Oh, yeah.

Mike Gerholdt:
So that’s how you automagically make stuff happen in Salesforce. Now it’s just called automation. That’s probably the better word.

Gillian Bruce:
Or admin magic or whatever.

Mike Gerholdt:
Yeah. Admin magic, that could work. Okay. We had some amazing podcasts. So if you’re listening to this and you haven’t gone back to the three episodes before this, add them to your playlist because we kicked off August with How I fell in love… Lots of love for this theme. Right? LowCodeLove.

Gillian Bruce:
So much love.

Mike Gerholdt:
August’s all about love.

Gillian Bruce:
The world needs more love.

Mike Gerholdt:
How I Fell in Love with Tableau, with John Demby, who is my new most awesome person for the month of August, because he was amazing to work with for Trailhead DX. And then we said, “John, we’ve got to get you on the podcast to talk about how you started at Tableau,” and just all of the fun things that he like, “Well, we can take this spreadsheet and we can make that.” And he’s helping his daughter out, doing these amazing projects in school. And I just loved that episode.

Gillian Bruce:
Yeah. I think after we recorded that episode with John, I may have spent the rest of the day poking around on the Tableau public website to see all of the crazy data sets people put have together because it was really fun.

Mike Gerholdt:
The visualizations on public Tableau are amazing. Are you kidding me? It’s like graphic designer level stuff.

Gillian Bruce:
I went down the Game of Thrones rabbit hole, just telling you. Khaleesi by the way, has logged the most killings of anyone. Just in case you’re wondering, Daenerys wins. So bringing it back to Game of Thrones always.

Mike Gerholdt:
Sure. That’s okay.

Gillian Bruce:
I miss that. God. By the way, if you’re looking for a great series to binge and you’ve never watched Game of Thrones, now is the time. Someone just told me last week that they’ve never watched it. And they just started watching it now. And I was jealous for three days, that they got to go experience that for the first time.

Mike Gerholdt:
The first time.

Gillian Bruce:
Yeah.

Mike Gerholdt:
Speaking of first-

Gillian Bruce:
Good segue again.

Mike Gerholdt:
Captain Segue Over here. How to Get Your First Admin Job with Tiffany Spencer. Wow, was that a fun interview? Gillian, you found Tiffany.

Gillian Bruce:
Well I didn’t find Tiffany. Mary Scotton sent me to Tiffany and Tiffany is a phenomenal force. Tiffany was part of the Trailblazer Lounge during Trailhead DX.

Mike Gerholdt:
One of the people doing the-

Gillian Bruce:
Yeah, doing the-

Mike Gerholdt:
Doing this in the background.

Gillian Bruce:
But Tiffany is incredible. She founded HBCUforce. She’s super passionate about using her very-high-level expertise in the Salesforce ecosystem and sharing that and enabling others to become part of it. And she’s doing some awesome work, had some great, amazing tips that we hadn’t heard before about how you can get your first admin job or how you can mentor others. So a very good episode. Listen to it now. Well, listen to this first.

Mike Gerholdt:
Right. Add it to your playlist.

Gillian Bruce:
There you go.

Mike Gerholdt:
Things to do. I feel this would be a fun user group game, like seven degrees of Mary Scotton.

Gillian Bruce:
You only need three.

Mike Gerholdt:
I know.

Gillian Bruce:
But yeah, she reaches everyone. It’s wild.

Mike Gerholdt:
Yeah. Neat. Would you say she’s passionate?

Gillian Bruce:
I sure would, Mike. Maybe passionate like Juan Marte, jr., Who was on the podcast just last week, talking about how you follow your passion and some of the amazing things he’s done. In fact, speaking of Mary Scotton, Juan Marte, jr. is a PepUp Tech alum, which one of the… Actually, I met Salina and Rebe, all through Mary Scotton. So they are the founders of PepUp Tech. And Mary Scotton, here we go, another degree of Mary Scotton.

Mike Gerholdt:
Maybe we add that as our wrap up for every month is to what degree was this associated to Mary? The Mary Scotton degree.

Gillian Bruce:
Right. The Mary Scotton factor or something like that?

Mike Gerholdt:
Yeah, the factor. That’s what I couldn’t think of, factor. That’s probably better.

Gillian Bruce:
But yeah, Juan was great. He clearly is super passionate about what he’s doing at One Love Foundation. And as a relatively new admin, he had some good stories about how he’s navigated learning, about how to best manage data at his organization, and find ways to serve up the data to decision makers in different regions to help them make important decisions. So good podcast there.

Mike Gerholdt:
Fun. Trailhead Live had some stuff. As always, essential habits because essentially, got to watch these. It’s a great series.

Gillian Bruce:
They are essential to your-

Mike Gerholdt:
Essential.

Gillian Bruce:
… success as a Salesforce admin.

Mike Gerholdt:
Your habiting, haberdashery things.

Gillian Bruce:
Don’t nuns wear habits? Isn’t that what they call them?

Mike Gerholdt:
I think that’s what it is. Yeah.

Gillian Bruce:
Anyway, I don’t know how that’s related.

Mike Gerholdt:
No.

Gillian Bruce:
My brain.

Mike Gerholdt:
Yeah. That was fun.

Gillian Bruce:
And there was some awesome LowCodeLove sessions on Trailhead Live is well, all of those you can access the recordings on trailhead.com.

Mike Gerholdt:
Yeah. I feel I always have to have a Trailhead Live tab open and just pop over to it like, “Oh, what’s going on here? What’s going on here? I’ll refresh.”

Gillian Bruce:
They have stuff going on all the time

Mike Gerholdt:
All the time. And you can set a calendar reminder to it.

Gillian Bruce:
Yeah. And all time zones. It’s not just US time zone. So if you are in APAC region or Europe or anywhere else, like India, there are things going live at your time zone. So be sure to check it out.

Mike Gerholdt:
Especially Trailhead News. That’s fun.

Gillian Bruce:
They can do such a great job with that.

Mike Gerholdt:
It’s the best Trailhead Live episode I always miss.

Gillian Bruce:
Yeah, because it’s at 3:00 AM our time or something.

Mike Gerholdt:
I forget. And then I add to my calendar and then scroll. Oh yeah, probably not going to see that. I’ll catch the old replay of it.

Gillian Bruce:
Ye old replay.

Mike Gerholdt:
Ye old replay.

Gillian Bruce:
Speaking of ye old-

Mike Gerholdt:
Ye old.

Gillian Bruce:
… let’s take a trip in the way back time machine.

Mike Gerholdt:
Okay. What’s funny Gillian is, there was a lot to pick from two years ago, but I decided we should highlight BAM.

Gillian Bruce:
BAM.

Mike Gerholdt:
BAM.

Gillian Bruce:
BAM. Be a Multiplier.

Mike Gerholdt:
So this was a podcast I believe you did.

Gillian Bruce:
Oh yes.

Mike Gerholdt:
Right? Yeah.

Gillian Bruce:
This is one of the most crazy, zany, fun podcasts I think I ever tried to required. I lost total control and you know why? Because I had Leah McGowen-Hare and Chris Duarte in a room with me and shenanigans ensued. In fact, I believe there was singing on this episode.

Mike Gerholdt:
Imagine that.

Gillian Bruce:
The energy from this episode will make you want to get up and do something. I don’t know what, but like-

Mike Gerholdt:
Walk around the block.

Gillian Bruce:
… hopefully it’s be a multiplier in some way. But yeah, I was talking about how you can help bring Salesforce opportunities to your community using the BAM Program.

Mike Gerholdt:
BAM can multiply. Three years ago… This I found kind of crazy and I also stopped picking podcast episodes after this because I was a little biased, but three years ago we celebrated our 200th episode.

Gillian Bruce:
That’s wild. That’s wild.

Mike Gerholdt:
And we had confetti in the emoji.

Gillian Bruce:
Yeah. Now we’re like 500 something, right?

Mike Gerholdt:
A lot. Time. Lots. Lots. Lots.

Gillian Bruce:
You’d think we’ve been doing this so long, we’d be better at it.

Mike Gerholdt:
I think we’re pretty good if we were. I think we think we’re better at it and we’re funnier than we think we are.

Gillian Bruce:
Maybe because we don’t mean to be funny.

Mike Gerholdt:
Right. Unintentionally.

Gillian Bruce:
They’re laughing at us instead of laughing with us.

Mike Gerholdt:
Yeah. Keep laughing at the podcap, Matt Graessle. Okay.

Gillian Bruce:
Don’t forget your Podcap.

Mike Gerholdt:
Don’t. If you’re going to go out in the winter, gloves, coat, snow boots, podcap.

Gillian Bruce:
Yeah, there you go. All right. So four years ago on the podcast, it was not a podcap yet.

Mike Gerholdt:
You almost said podcap. I know you wanted to say it.

Gillian Bruce:
Yeah. Totally almost did.

Mike Gerholdt:
Four years on the podcap… I mean pod… What am I? What’s going on?

Gillian Bruce:
We were talking about Winter ’17 release features. Oh my God. That feels like forever ago.

Mike Gerholdt:
I know. Forever. That’s why I put that, because I was like, “Oh, Winter ’17 release features.” And then, so clicking into it, I also had to click into this and really read. So what were we excited about with Winter ’17? I don’t know. It had to have been, this must have made something good. And I was like, “Oh, that’s right. We had the snowman as the logo.” Do you remember the snowman used to roll in on the load screen?

Gillian Bruce:
Yeah. I think that was the fourth snowman logo we’ve had. And now everything is a Trailhead logo. But I remember being like, “Okay guys, we’ve had a snowman four or five times. Let’s move on. There are other things.”

Mike Gerholdt:
There’s snow in winter. And then this is a shout out, but the top thing that we had, call a process from another process.

Gillian Bruce:
Automation.

Mike Gerholdt:
And the number of phone calls that we were on in Google Meets with Leanne to talk about how we were going to put this in the admin keynote. Remember for Dreamforce that year?

Gillian Bruce:
Yeah.

Mike Gerholdt:
And it’s a process and we’re calling a process. How do we talk about this? It’s a thing inside of a thing. I don’t know.

Gillian Bruce:
It’s like a turducken of some sort.

Mike Gerholdt:
It’s like a turducken. Yes.

Gillian Bruce:
Yeah. That was cool. The other thing I think that people went crazy for is global pick lists. This is when global pick lists became a thing, which are pretty amazing.

Mike Gerholdt:
Now that I’ve used them, yes.

Gillian Bruce:
Right. And then inline editing for mass actions.

Mike Gerholdt:
Right. Because who doesn’t like to add a bunch of records at time? I do.

Gillian Bruce:
It’s amazing when you think what we were excited about four years ago and where we are now with the platform. It’s amazing.

Mike Gerholdt:
Yeah. Six years ago, I don’t know why my voice got so high there, we were talking about, I put five tips to stay productive while on vacation, because we took vacations six years ago. We were cute. Wasn’t it cute, we took vacations?

Gillian Bruce:
And you could go somewhere warm and tropical. Sit on the beach. Yeah.

Mike Gerholdt:
I scrolled through this and maybe it’s a thing that I need to rewrite. I think some of it I mostly agree with and the point of friction most people bring up is bullet point one, set aside 15 minutes each day to triage email.

Gillian Bruce:
Yeah, I don’t do that on vacation.

Mike Gerholdt:
I know. And I do, and it drives me nuts to not. To come back and not have an idea of how things are going and just be caught off guard. So maybe we need a-

Gillian Bruce:
Yeah. To each their own there.

Mike Gerholdt:
… a point counterpoint on that one.

Gillian Bruce:
I turn my notifications for email off.

Mike Gerholdt:
Smart.

Gillian Bruce:
In fact, sometimes I remove my work email from my phone.

Mike Gerholdt:
Even smarter.

Gillian Bruce:
Because I get tempted to do other things.

Mike Gerholdt:
Right. Yeah. So staying productive, maybe.

Gillian Bruce:
Well, you know what else happened six years ago, Mike? We became-

Mike Gerholdt:
I clicked a plus button on Facebook?

Gillian Bruce:
Yeah. We became Facebook friends. It’s such an important milestone for us. It’s our Facebook-iversary.

Mike Gerholdt:
That’s fun. I only remember this because Facebook pushed out the little canoe with the spinning picture on it.

Gillian Bruce:
I know. Well, to be fair, I saw that you did that. I was like, “Oh right. Here we go.”

Mike Gerholdt:
Yeah. Okay, great. So then just to go deep, the deep cuts, 10 years ago, of course the admin team wasn’t round. So then I like to look up fun things like top-grossing movies. Top-grossing movies, these three, I’ve never seen. Actually, one I’ve sort of seen, but I was on a plane. But top-grossing movies that I don’t think need to be made.

Gillian Bruce:
I think a lot of people forgot they existed. To be fair, I don’t think I’ve seen any of these. And if I have, I don’t remember.

Mike Gerholdt:
So the top three that I found were The Other Guys, The Expendables and Takers. Yeah.

Gillian Bruce:
They all sound kind of expendable to me.

Mike Gerholdt:
Yeah. Made by other guys, since there’s nothing taken there. So that was interesting. I was like, “Okay.” And of the three, I watched The Expendables once on a plane because it was the only thing I hadn’t seen on the plane.

Gillian Bruce:
Well, not going to have to worry about that for a while.

Mike Gerholdt:
Nope. So I’ve heard, I think there’s an Expendables follow up.

Gillian Bruce:
Yeah. It had a bunch of people in it, right?

Mike Gerholdt:
Sure.

Gillian Bruce:
Like every like action movie star or something.

Mike Gerholdt:
Every former ’80s action person that’s running low on 401k money.

Gillian Bruce:
Or they’re bored. I don’t know. Oh boy.

Mike Gerholdt:
20 years ago, because that’s fun to look back. Remember like, “Oh, it’s going to be 2000”?

Gillian Bruce:
Oh yeah. That’s when I graduated high school.

Mike Gerholdt:
Yeah. 2000’s going to hit. It’s going to be all zeros. And the local radio station I used to listen to was like, “And that’s when cheese is going to stop melting.” That was their joke.

Gillian Bruce:
We just kept calling ourselves the Class of Oh, Oh. Or the class of uh-oh.

Mike Gerholdt:
Uh-oh. The Billboard hit for 2000, end of August was Incomplete by Sisqo.

Gillian Bruce:
By Sisqo.

Mike Gerholdt:
Yes.

Gillian Bruce:
See, the only song I know of Sisqo is the Thong Song.

Mike Gerholdt:
Yeah, I know.

Gillian Bruce:
So I don’t-

Mike Gerholdt:
I’m fairly certain that’s everybody. But apparently, we also listened to one other song on that CD.

Gillian Bruce:
That’s right, because it was definitely a CD back then.

Mike Gerholdt:
Yeah. 2000. You got iTunes? What, are you from the future?

Gillian Bruce:
Got the CD changer in your car.

Mike Gerholdt:
Right.

Gillian Bruce:
I think at that point I hadn’t even had my first car yet, but I got one a couple years later and I think I had the Discman that had the cassette adapter you plug into the car because I had an ’88 Civic or something. And I was like, “Oh my God, this is so cool.” But God forbid you go over a bump, because it’ll still skip, even though it was the Sport Discman.

Mike Gerholdt:
Yeah. No. The car I had had the option of ordering the rear disk changer and you could put 20 CDs in that disc changer. Of course, it was in the trunk, so you basically had to plan your 20 CDs, get in your car and be like, “Okay, it’s what we… Oh, I’d really like to listen to this CD.” Too bad, it’s not in rotation. And unless you want to get out and climb in the trunk…

Mike Gerholdt:
This makes no sense. It made complete sense back then like, “Oh yeah. It’s a 20-disc changer and it’s in the trunk.” So 20 years from now, we’re going to look at something and be like, “That made complete sense back then.”

Gillian Bruce:
Right. It’d be like, “Oh, you had to call something up on your phone to play it in your car? That is crazy.”

Mike Gerholdt:
Yeah. I think we’ll probably just talk to stuff.

Gillian Bruce:
Probably. Or stuff will talk to us. So we’re set.

Mike Gerholdt:
So we’re going to add a new segment to our wrap up for people still listening besides Matt Graceful.

Gillian Bruce:
Thanks, Matt.

Mike Gerholdt:
And I was on a call with Josh Burke who, if you don’t know, hosts the Developer Podcast, and what do we say, Godfather of Trailhead?

Gillian Bruce:
Godfather of Trailhead, yes.

Mike Gerholdt:
Godfather of Trailhead. So we were chatting today and he told me something that I want to share with everybody that I think is funny, and I’ll share mine. But he calls it his moment of COVID joy. And so a moment of COVID joy is when ordinarily, it would just be something you dismiss, but it gives you just utter and complete joy right now.

Gillian Bruce:
I love this.

Mike Gerholdt:
I thought it was neat. I loved it. So my moment of COVID joy, as you heard, Iowa got some bad storms last week and we were without power for a while. And when my power came back, I had enough time to read how to reset all of my fire alarms and all of my smoke detectors. And now all my smoke detectors’ lights are green. And I cannot tell you how ecstatic I am that all of my smoke detector lights are green because they weren’t for a while. So that was my moment of COVID joy.

Gillian Bruce:
I love that, Mike. That’s super nerdy and amazing, and I love it.

Mike Gerholdt:
Just that the little green light in every room just makes me happy.

Gillian Bruce:
Yeah. Well, my moment, I feel like I find little moments of COVID joy where I can. But I will say last week, I made the most awesome killer Instapot recipe that I have made so far, ever with the Instapot. And it was the simplest chicken tortilla soup that was just freaking amazing. We ate it for five days, it was that good.

Mike Gerholdt:
Wow.

Gillian Bruce:
And it was the easiest Instapot. Sometimes, I don’t know if you have an Instapot, but those of you who do-

Mike Gerholdt:
No.

Gillian Bruce:
… a lot of times in the directions, they have you sear the meat in the Instapot, then take it out, and then sear the aromatics and the vegetables, and then put the meat back in.

Mike Gerholdt:
Sure.

Gillian Bruce:
It’s complicated. I’m like, it’s an Instapot, You’re supposed to just throw everything in and set it and forget it.

Mike Gerholdt:
Instant, hot, boom.

Gillian Bruce:
This chicken tortilla soup recipe, oh my God. It is that. It is perfect. You just put it all in and you set it and then it… It’s delicious. Anyway, so that was my moment of COVID joy because normally I would never be cooking.

Mike Gerholdt:
I also find, and I’m the same way, when you make a soup or a chili or a stew, you eat it for four or five days.

Gillian Bruce:
Yeah. Well sometimes you get sick of it by day three. And you’re like, “I can’t do this anymore.”

Mike Gerholdt:
I know. I still got… “What would you like for dinner? We’ve got stew or stew, or stew, because we made a lot of stew.”

Gillian Bruce:
Or DoorDash

Mike Gerholdt:
Or DoorDash. That’s your moment of COVID joy.

Gillian Bruce:
Yeah.

Mike Gerholdt:
Anyway-

Gillian Bruce:
Yeah. Chicken tortilla soup. Maybe I’ll share the recipe in the show notes. People can also have some joy. If I can find it. It’s a printed out one, so I’m going to have to-

Mike Gerholdt:
Tweet their pictures of chicken soup, or just tweet their pictures of COVID joy. That’s what you should do. When you hear this episode, you’re going to be like, “Oh, I so want to send my moment of COVID joy.” I want to read it on Twitter.

Gillian Bruce:
I love that. Hashtag COVID joy.

Mike Gerholdt:
