Admin Release Countdown: Get Ready for Summer ’20

By

How are you? No, really, how are you? I’m doing okay, getting to grips with homeschooling and doing some learning of my own on Trailhead. We’re all settling into this “new normal” and it’s hard to stay focused, let alone keep on top of any key release dates coming up. We sent an email to all of you this week to let you know that we are postponing the Summer ’20 release, so you’re probably wondering what that means for all the key dates you’re used to tracking for each release.

Let’s keep it simple for now — here are the most important dates:

April 23: Get early access to the release by signing up for a Pre-Release org

A pre-release org is a special environment that is upgraded even before sandboxes, giving you new features weeks in advance of the release. It’s not linked to your production org, so it won’t have the same data or configuration and you can test away without worrying about breaking anything. Sign up for the Summer ’20 pre-release org.

May 4: Review the Release Notes

Preview release notes are now targeted for the beginning of May. This is your time to do a quick scan of the release notes — use the filters to find what’s relevant for the Edition and Products you currently use. Keep an eye out for features that are automatically enabled for your users. Read em here!

May 29: Be sure to refresh your Sandbox

May 29 is the refresh deadline to get early access to all the Summer ’20 features in your sandboxes. The Sandbox Preview instructions blog will be published in the next week or so. In the meantime, you can always use the Sandbox Refresh Calculator if you want to get ahead with your planning.

June 12: Join us live for the Awesome Admin Release Preview AND watch Release Readiness LIVE by cloud

Over the past few weeks, you’ve seen that lots of your favorite events will be reimagined as virtual experiences over the next few months. We, too, agree that nothing is more important than the health and safety of all our contributors to Release Readiness Live, so we’ll be going virtual for Summer ’20. Register now!

June 12, July 10, July 17-18: Summer ’20 Arrives!

Check Trust to see when your Salesforce instance gets the new features. Any sandboxes you’ve opted not to include in the Sandbox preview will get upgraded to Summer ’20 on the final release weekend.

Stay up-to-date and join us on the Release Readiness Trailblazer Community Group where we’ll post all the links and kick off our Summer ’20 Treasure Hunt. Thank you for all the feedback you’ve given us so far — we really appreciate your patience and we’ll keep doing our best to help you get #releaseready.

?April 10, 2020 UPDATE ?

Meet our new Summer ’20 logo, Trailheart Astro

Why the change? Well, as we continue to navigate these uncertain times, we’ve been blown away by our Trailblazers who are finding new and creative ways to connect online and support each other. Sarah Franklin calls it #Trailheart. And in the spirit of leading with your heart and with the intention of helping others, the Summer ’20 logo is changing to Astro holding the heart.

The previous winning logo, Einstein waterskiing, is taking an extended holiday and will be back as our Summer ’21 logo.
