Over the years, Lightning pages have become increasingly more powerful, enabling Salesforce Admins to envision and build complex, flexible and smart experiences for users with low code.

Making changes to the user experience in Salesforce is critical when you’re supporting a business that is fast-changing, needing to pivot, or expanding. Requirements change, new programs launch, users demand moar!

That’s why many Admins (cough Amber cough) exalted in delight when LeeAnne Rimel demoed Dynamic Forms and Actions in the Admin Keynote last year. These new features enable us make our pages more flexible for different use cases, devices, and users. And, it was at this moment, we knew we had to get #AwesomeAdmins hands-on with these new features as soon as we possibly could.

Build a reimagined record page

So now it’s time. Time to get ready to deliver innovation by re-imagining your record pages. The Be An Innovator with Dynamic Pages adventure will take you step-by-step, from start to finish. With guidance from our Salesforce Admin Evangelists and Product Managers, we’ll be designing a new custom page to help our users at Sunshine Chocolates manage a brand new program in Salesforce, in no time.

We’ll also suggest Trailhead modules to help you go deeper into the topic. You can either follow along by building the same page or apply the skills you learn to build a custom one for yourself or your company.

Make a difference (and win prizes!)

We’re on this adventure together

Before we jump in and build a masterfully designed, smart, dynamic record page, we have some advice for you from our experts.

First, it’s time for you to put on your beret and transform into an artist…an artist who is hugely concerned about user experience. Who thinks about how we can improve our user’s productivity by designing experiences that are effortless and enjoyable. As LeeAnne says,

“Your users want intuitive and streamlined experiences, and with Dynamic Pages, Admins can deliver awesome user experiences fast, and with clicks!” — LeeAnne Rimel, Architect Admin Evangelist

Next, keep in mind that you may need to change your thinking and really embrace a beginner’s mindset. In order to build these new efficient, dynamic, flexible, smart pages you’ll have to change the way you approach page design and maybe even start with a blank canvas. As Vin puts it,

“Just because you can doesn’t mean you should! These new features mean a big shift in how you build applications. The way you’ve built in the past may need to be re-evaluated. I encourage you to think: Is there a better way to do this? Does it make sense to have this many layouts? This many fields?” — Vin Addala, Senior Director, Product Management

And finally, a bit of advice from Moi: With great power comes great responsibility. Now more than ever, it’s important to spend time planning before building. If we’re building one page “to rule em all”, who are we ruling? What are we ruling over?
