Whether you heard the news from Dreamforce last year or during the most recent Release Readiness Live, you heard it right: Flow is the future for automation at Salesforce! And don’t worry, we also heard you loud and clear that Flow isn’t the easiest tool to learn. There’s a strong need for additional enablement content and tools to make Flow easier to use and adopt.
Great news, Flownatics! The teams at Salesforce have been working hard to bring you new content and product innovations to help you accelerate your Flow journey. In the spirit of full transparency, we’ve created an internal committee dedicated to making the Flow learning and adoption experience easier than ever. We’ve got experts from Trailhead Content, Content Experience (CX), Admin Relations, Salesforce Credentialing, Product Management, and Product Marketing to help you get started.
We’re happy to share some initial progress toward this goal.
New and updated Flow content
New — Flow animation videos
We’ve created a series of snackable, animated videos that make complex Flow concepts, such as variables and loops, easier to digest. If you’ve ever felt like you need to know code to learn Flow, these videos are designed for you! Check out the new videos in this article.
Updated — Record-triggered flow documentation
Our CX team is working hard to revamp documentation related to record-triggered flows. Below are a few of the first updated Help topics, with more to come!
Updated — Record-Triggered Automation Architect’s Guide
The Product team also updated the Architect’s Guide on Record-Triggered Automation. We fixed some outdated roadmap content, updated the async section to include how triggered flows can help, and provided some definitive answers to the popular myth of the “one flow per object” rule.
Updated — Improve Data Quality for Your Sales and Support Teams badge
For Sales and Support teams, we’ve updated the last unit in the Improve Data Quality for Your Sales and Support Teams badge to show how you can automatically change the value of a field using Flow instead of Process Builder, as done in the previous version of the badge.
Updated — Billing Specialist and Advanced Billing Specialist superbadges
The Credentialing team has been hard at work bringing Trailblazers updated superbadge content that features Flow for process automation. Automation requirements in the Billing Specialist and Advanced Billing Specialist superbadges rolled out in early March. Now, Trailblazers can demonstrate their Revenue Cloud skills, from quote to payment collection, invoice generation, and CPQ using Flow instead of workflow rules (WFRs) and processes.
New product features
- Workflow Rules to Flow migration tool — We want to help you minimize the time it takes to recreate your workflows in Flow with our new beta migration tool. It will even detect your WFRs that can become fast field updates and migrate accordingly!

- Flow Trigger Explorer — Flow Trigger Explorer gives you a bird’s eye view of all your triggered automation around an object that was missing in Workflow Rules or Process Builder. This makes managing workflows easier than ever when building automation using Flow.
Even more resources are coming soon!
As you can see, we’ve been working tirelessly to help bridge the content gap and provide additional feature support. And we’re not stopping here. Of all the new things we’re currently working on, there’s one particularly interesting project we’d like to share with you!
Upcoming — Automate This! YouTube Live Series
Admin Relations is planning a new YouTube livestream series called Automate This!, hosted by our community-favorite Admin Evangelist, Jennifer Lee. In this series, you’ll be able to interact with other Trailblazers and presenters live while learning best practices, discussing automation topics that are top of mind for admins, and solving real-world business problems. The first episode will be launching soon. Stay tuned!
That’s it for now. As we make more progress, we’ll be sure to keep you posted!
