Finding Your First Agentforce Win as a Salesforce Admin

Finding Your First Agentforce Win as a Salesforce Admin

By

As a Salesforce Admin, the potential of AI is huge, and Agentforce puts that power directly in your hands. But with so many possibilities, the biggest question is often the simplest: Where do I begin?

If you’re exploring how Agentforce fits into your org, or even a specific project, you might find yourself wondering how to choose a manageable use case. You want something small enough to get going quickly, but meaningful enough to show value.

The good news? You don’t need to wait for the “perfect” idea. Just getting started is often the key that unlocks momentum. This blog pulls together bite-sized tips from admins and Agentblazers across the Trailblazer Community to help you generate a use case and get building. These ideas can help spark that first build—and many more after it.

🔄 Start with a repetitive task

Even the smallest process improvements can have a big impact when it comes to time saved. Bonus points if the process is especially manual, time-consuming, or prone to bottlenecks. For example, starting with a simple question about a known process can help you acquaint yourself with the entire agent building process.

Take a recurring task and explore how you could turn it into an intelligent automation. A clearly defined workflow can help you build a more effective agent, and getting comfortable with the builder is the first step.

Here are some ideas to get your agent-building juices flowing.

  • Automate routine data entry to save time.
  • Surface real-time data to provide quick insights.
  • Streamline follow-up tasks to ensure nothing is missed.
  • Route cases or inquiries to the right person, faster.
  • Suggest knowledge articles to answer common questions.

⚠️ Find processes that result in errors or user frustration

The best use cases not only speed things up but also solve problems. Look at areas of friction: error-prone handoffs, inconsistent follow-ups, or tasks that require users to toggle between too many tools. These are often excellent opportunities for automation.

As you consider ideas, also ask, “Will this have measurable value for users or stakeholders?” The most effective builds are both possible and impactful.

🛠️ Build on your existing admin skills

You already have what it takes! Agentforce is designed to work with the tools and features you already use, and the fundamentals are based on your existing admin skill set. For example, as Agentblazer Joy Shutters-Helbing recommends, you can use flows to handle your logic, then layer in agent functionality.

The tasks associated with your admin core responsibilities, like onboarding new users or maintaining clean data, are the foundation for building with Agentforce. In other words, the skills and knowledge are already in place—you’re simply applying them as you learn a new tool.

A great example of this is building modular flows, smaller autolaunched flows that can be reused in multiple places in the platform, like in a custom flow action that an agent will use. Learn about modular flows in Jennifer Lee’s blog post

📦 Explore prebuilt topics and agents

You don’t have to start from scratch. Customize the prebuilt agents and topics in Agentforce for your org, or just use them for practice. This is a low-effort way to get familiar with what’s possible and generate ideas for more customized builds.

🌱 Start with one use case that you can build on later

Even if your first agent just helps with a simple task, that’s a win. Start with a small, strategic build that can grow with your org. Agentblazer Pradeep Konakanchi recommends structuring your use case so it’s easy to expand later. For example, an agent that verifies training completion today could support broader onboarding tasks in the future. Agentforce is evolving, and your solutions can evolve with it.

✨ Listen to your users and target quick wins

Your users may already be dropping hints about what they need. Ask them what’s slowing them down or what kind of support they want from an agent. You’ll likely uncover ideas that deliver immediate value and help you demonstrate the potential of Agentforce to your stakeholders.

🎯 Choose a problem or objective you know well

Don’t overcomplicate your first use case. Choose a process or objective you’re already deeply familiar with. When you know the ins and outs, it’s easier to spot where an agent can improve things. You’re not trying to build the next big thing—you’re improving a small part of your workday. That’s how long-term success begins.

Start to explore Agentforce

Sometimes, the best advice is the simplest: just start. Sign up for a free Developer Edition org, pick a use case, and see where it takes you. For further guidance, check out our five-step framework to navigate your Agentforce learning journey.

Agentforce is all about helping you do what you already do, just faster, smarter, and more user friendly.
