Key TrailheaDX ’19 Takeaways for Admins

By

TrailheaDX 2019 has been an incredible adventure this week! Over the last two days we saw thousands of Trailblazers in San Francisco and many more of you joined us online for live-streamed sessions, interviews, and walk-throughs. We had a ton of fun with our Ohana, learned from each other at breakouts, sessions, and keynotes, and got to connect in new ways both on and offline. To wrap up the past 48 fantastic hours, check out the highlights below—from the Opening Keynote, to sessions made for #AwesomeAdmins, to our favorite tweets!

This year’s opening keynote was preceded by an amazing live pre-show hosted by Admin Evangelist Gillian Bruce. It featured interviews with product managers, a rockin’ musical performance by LT Smooth, and the debut of “Trailshred” video to celebrate the launch of a new Trailhead project that allows you to add sound effects to your Salesforce org.

The opening keynote was hosted by Parker Harris, co-founder and CTO of Salesforce, and he was joined on stage by a number of additional Salesforce product experts to celebrate empowered Trailblazers and show how people like you are using the Salesforce Platform to achieve amazing things.

There were several key product announcements made throughout the keynote, including the exciting launch of Salesforce Blockchain, a fast and easy way to declaratively build trusted partner networks. Check out this blog post about Blockchain to learn more about what this means for Admins. Other key announcements included Lightning Web Components Open Source, Einstein Platform Services, and MuleSoft API Community Manager.

Sarah Franklin, EVP Dev Relations & GM Trailhead, also made several announcements during the keynote, including the new AI Ethical Use Trailhead Module, a new partnership with Southern New Hampshire to earn college credits from Trailhead, and a fun new feature on Trailmoji – myTrailmoji – which invites users to join a new adventure by creating and sharing versions of Salesforce characters that reflect their personal style, hobbies, and interests. Now you can customize Astro!

Three Trailblazer stories were featured in the keynote. First, we heard the story about the organization RAD Women, and how Angela Mahoney and this passionate group of Trailblazers are using the Salesforce Platform to help close the equality gap that exists in technology. Second, we heard how Susannah St-Germain from Boston Scientific is using the Salesforce Platform to create impact at her company, in her career and in the community. Last we heard how Phillip Connaughton and his team at Asics used the Salesforce Platform to transform their digital commerce strategy.

You can watch the full opening keynote here.

Session Highlights for Admins

TrailheaDX was jam-packed with great breakout sessions and theater presentations for Salesforce Admins. It was a fantastic event for Admins to learn more about the newest Salesforce features, earn even moar credentials & badges, and connect with each other- it’s almost a second family reunion.

Admins kick-started their TrailheaDX experience with a breakout session from Admin Evangelist LeeAnne Rimel who up-skilled Admins by teaching them how to Rock a Demo (and why it matters).

Learning how to Tame Distractions and Overload, Crush Completion: Personal Kanban for Admins with Eric Sowa was a popular session as we all try to work efficiently.

Shannon Gregg and Mike Gerholdt gave Admins the science behind building, executing, and getting everyone on board at the Create a Vision for Salesforce breakout session.

Gillian Bruce inspired and motivated Admins at a Live recording of the Salesforce Admins podcast! And everyone turned out in force to hear from LaRon Butler and Kelley Babbs. Check out the recording from our live-stream here!

Gillian also spoke with Susannah St. Germain to talk about what Admins and Architects have in common.

Rebecca Saar, Kelly Walker and #AwesomeAdmin Melanie Head gave Admins a roadmap to make the move to Lightning in 60 days. They challenged everyone to get started right away, which means you can be on Lightning by Aug 2nd! Will you take that challenge? You can view the recording of the live-stream here, to get ready. #LightningNow
